Eid-ul-Adha Guidance
As announced in the madrasa's Eid-ul-Adha leaflet (1447 Hijri).
From the Fajr prayer of 9 Dhul-Hijjah until the Asr prayer of 13 Dhul-Hijjah, recite the following Takbir once, loudly, after every obligatory (Fard) prayer — including at the Eidgah:
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallahu wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil-hamd.
Also from the leaflet: from the sighting of the Eid moon until the Eid prayer, not cutting hair and nails is Sunnah; fasting is prohibited on 10–13 Dhul-Hijjah and on Eid-ul-Fitr day.
Eid-ul-Adha Guidance
Key rulings from the madrasa's leaflet. For detailed questions, please consult the ulama.
Qurbani is obligatory on an adult, sane, free Muslim who owns at least 7.5 tola of gold, 52.5 tola of silver, or equivalent wealth after necessary expenses and debts — and it may also be performed on behalf of deceased parents, teachers, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Minimum ages: camel 5 years; cow and buffalo 2 years; goat and sheep 1 year. Large animals may be shared by up to 7 persons; goat and sheep are for one person only. Divide the meat in three: family, relatives, and the poor.
These funds are the right of the poor: they must not pay teachers' salaries or build mosque doors and windows. Giving them to poor madrasa students and poor relatives carries greater reward.
Lay the animal facing the Qiblah, recite the slaughtering dua, then slaughter saying "Bismillahi Allahu Akbar", naming those on whose behalf the Qurbani is made. No part of the animal — including the hide — may be given to the butcher as payment.
